Maximum Security: Thor vs. Ego

In 2000, Marvel Comics launched a company-wide crossover entitled Maximum Security, and everyone from the Avengers to Spider-Man to the X-Men got involved in this tale of aliens setting up Earth as a prison planet for their ne’er-do-wells. As a tie-in, the good folks at the House of Ideas put together this one-shot that reprints the mighty Thor’s earliest encounters with Ego the Living Planet, who is also a major player in the Maximum Security storyline. Here, Ego—an honest-to-gosh sentient world—is threatened by the world-devouring Galactus in a rousingly cosmic adventure from arguably comics’ greatest super-team—scripter Stan “The Man” Lee and penciler Jack “The King” Kirby.
