Faust: The Book of M

    (Avatar, 1999)
™ and ©1999 David Quinn and Timothy B. Vigil

The sorcerer Cabal has trapped the demon called M within a pentagram. There, he intends to make him suffer for his many crimes. But although the sorcerer might seem to have the upper hand, M clearly enjoys the chance to make his case. In M’s view, the carnage that he has been accused of was merely his inspiration—not his doing. It was always people who did the dirty work.

Told mostly in text, with gruesome, explicit illustrations to match, The Book of M is a catalog of horror and depravity, but at the same time a plodding tale. It’s long on murder, sex, and gore…but short on both story and real interest.
