The Star Brand
(Marvel, 1986-1989, 2006)
Marvel
The Star Brand is a symbol of power—a tattoo of sorts—that had long been possessed by an ancient man who carried it through the ages. Its power grew to the point where he could no longer contain it, however, and he had to find a way to transfer it into other objects: cats, trees…even an asteroid. The explosion caused when he transferred his power into an asteroid was what was commonly known as the “White Event”—the event that transformed the New Universe. But no matter how much power was transferred, a trace always remained, which would continue to grow until it also was uncontrollable.
Finally, the old man found Kenneth Connell, a resident nobody of Pittsburgh. He gave Connell the awesome power of the Star Brand, turning him into the most powerful being on the planet. The question is: can Connell, a man with more than his own share of problems, handle the job?
