Drew Struzan: Oeuvre

™ and ©2004 Drew Struzan

The art of Drew Struzan has always been compelling. He has been so prolific, that wherever you go, you can usually find one piece of his art somewhere. Video stores, comic-book stores, videogame stores, and recently, art galleries all display work by this modern master proudly.

Educated at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., his “employers” have included the Pacific Eye & Ear Design Studio, and LA’s Pencil Pushers. Along the way, his signature style developed into what it is today.

From his creative soul, Alice Cooper’s Welcome To My Nightmare, George Lucas’ Star Wars saga posters, the Back to the Future’ poster trilogy, and E.T. have all sprung. What is it that draws us to certain artists? Struzan knows, but he is not telling. Like Norman Rockwell and Maxfield Parrish before him, his art has become as iconic as the characters he has illustrated.

Dreamwave Productions has given us a look into the work that defines our time. With introductions and commentaries by George Lucas, Harrison Ford, and Robert Zemeckis, high quality graphics and insightful commentary by Jessie and Amy Horsting this book’s a keeper!
