In 1983, Father Devlin was a missionary in Nicaragua. In that war-torn country, the mere fact that he was a priest made him a target. Eventually the day came where he found himself hanging from the skids of a chopper in midair, as CIA agents tried to airlift away from the grasp of approaching soldiers. His grip gave out and he fell—in more ways than one. Rather than let himself be murdered, he struck out, using the soldiers’ own weapons against them. When it was over, three soldiers lay dead. Devlin had survived but his faith was severely shaken.

Now a pastor in an American church, he fights a daily battle to help his parishioners and keep his sanity. Then one fateful day, the Shadow Dwellers—a race that had evolved alongside and among men, yet remained hidden all the while—recruited him. Their offer: to take on the armors and mission of the secret “Order of St. George.” It was to be a worthy, but very painful fight…
