First appearing in Special Marvel Edition #15, Shang-Chi returns again as the Master of Kung Fu. This eighty-page special edition takes place in the wake of his battle with the terrorist group led by “Argus.” In that battle, Shang-Chi was splashed with a poison that seeped in through his skin; that poison is now slowly killing him.

His friends, Clive Reston and “Black Jack” Tarr can offer him only one dim hope—if he can locate his father’s Serum of Life, he might be able to use it save himself. His friends arranged to have a relic—a clue to the serum’s whereabouts— delivered to them. But the assassin Zaran intercepts their courier, and takes the relic instead to Shang-Chi’s old enemy, Li Chun. Master of Kung Fu: Bleeding Black follows the Master of Kung Fu as he desperately battles Li Chun in a struggle to save his own life.
