Without a doubt, Evan Dorkin is one of the funniest alternative cartoonists working in comics today. This series is a showcase for his hilarious work.
Leading off the pack is the Murderr Family, a devilishly black situation comedy starring a family of serial killers. While slicing up a meter reader, they remark, “Damn! The knife snapped. Must’ve hit the breastbone…Aw Matt, your mother gave us that knife. I loved that knife!” Next is a collection of rock review comics Dorkin did with Kyle Baker for a defunct music magazine. Their comments on the crowds at alternative shows were dead-on funny. (A huge person is seen thinking, “I am much taller than Kyle, so I must stand directly in front of him at all times!”) Rounding out the bunch are musings on Fisher-Price peg people, the infamous “Baby in the Microwave” story, and episodes from his hilarious Milk & Cheese series (“Dairy Products Gone Bad!”). Great stuff!
