The Griffin (Slave Labor)
(Slave Labor, 1988-1989)
™ and © 1988 Dan Vado & Norman Felche
Matt Williams, a typical American teenager, was picked up one night by recruiters of the Acacian Imperiacy Star Fleet looking for a human subject who would be willing to undergo a procedure to make him invincible and one of their best weapons in interplanetary conflicts. Matt said yes. Twenty years later, tired and just wanting to go home, he deserted with his friend Lt. Stomu, stole a starship, and went back to Earth. Unfortunately, the empire wants one more job done-capture an insane super renegade they’ve managed to dump on Earth and only the Griffin can stop.
The Griffin began as a black-and-white comic at Slave Labor Graphics, spent time as a 6-issue mini-series at DC in 1991, and then returned to Slave Labor Graphics where creator Dan Vado began looking for an artist to do the series justice again.
