Charlton publishes #51-59.

Gabby Hayes Western was based on the exploits of cantankerous old-timer Hayes, a star of movie westerns in the 1940s and ’50s. Together with his horse Corker, Gabby Hayes and his pals kept the old West safe from cattle rustlers and other desperados, all with a touch of good humor and wit. Gabby’s dialogue, delivered in a deadpan drawl, was especially memorable: “Keep a-comin’ chump! One more step and I’ll drop yuh!” or “Dingbust it! I don’t like these fool shenanigans!”

Fawcett published the title until 1953, attractively packaged with photo covers. In 1954, Charlton took over and rode it until interest evaporated in the late 1950s.
