Time Warp

Most science-fiction comics promise “startling space fiction” while delivering up the same tired clichés. Somehow, Time Warp managed to go beyond this. The ground it covered was familiar to fans of the genre, filled with space aliens and post-apocalypse survival tales. Nevertheless, the writers (including Mike W. Barr, Denny O’Neil, J.M. DeMatteis, and others) made each giant-sized issue of this series a genuine surprise. Undoubtedly, much of the credit belongs to editor Joe Orlando, a longtime veteran of EC titles Weird Science and Weird Fantasy.

Unfortunately, Time Warp’s $1.00 price doomed it to low sales when other comics were selling for around 25¢. The series ran for only five issues, although one is left with the impression that it deserved better.
