Son of Vulcan (DC)

Jason Woodrue, the Floronic Man, who truly became creepy under writer Alan Moore in the pages of Swamp Thing, is menacing the city of Charlton’s Point and attracts the attention of the hero Vulcan, who swoops down on the city with a fiery sword and a kick-butt attitude. Unfortunately, Woodrue gets the jump on our hero, and things look bleak—until young Miguel Devante steps in and saves the day. Vulcan is impressed and begins to train the orphan to one day take his place. It’s a heavy-handed legacy tale from that point on, but it’s brought to energetic life by the exquisite, manga-inspired artwork of Keron Grant.
