Hayao Miyazaki’s magical movie classic My Neighbor Totoro is brought to press as a delightful children’s picture book from the publishers at Viz Media. Mei and Satsuki are sisters who’ve just moved to a new home with their father in rural Japan. Their mother is ill in the hospital and the two girls have only their father to depend on. They’ve yet to make any friends, but all that changes when Mei encounters a strange little creature that she’s never seen before. Soon, both sisters find themselves caught up in a magical adventure with the forest spirits of the land, called “Totoro” (literally “dragon cat”) as they learn to care for and love their new home.

This colorful and simply written book is a fun adaptation that’s easy for young fans of the movie to read and offers a charming story for parents as well.
