Black Harvest Comic Book

Readers familiar with Josh Howard’s work, most notably Dead@17, will recognize his fingerprint as soon as they see the cover art. And, as is the case with the Dead@17 comics, there are some not-so-natural elements that prominently play into the plot.

However, these are not reasons to dismiss the mini-series. On the contrary. Howard’s art—while not appealing to everyone—is easy on the eye in a crazysexycool sort of way. Also, the plot of Black Harvest—while containing familiar elements—puts together a nice tale that so far boasts building momentum in terms of originality.

It all starts in the town of Jericho, Texas… and I’ll leave it at that. Howard uses the better side of X-Files sensibilities to tell a story worth checking out. Whether this limited series sinks or swims depends on where he goes from here, but the outlook is good.
