In 1998 Greg LaRocque produced The Exiled, a class war story about a royal ruling class who enjoyed power and comfort as they long as they ignored the dictatorial excesses of Sister Synara and the Church of Our Creator. Princess Dusa and her cousins relinquished their lives of wealth and privilege to aid the oppressed masses. Her cousins, Averia and Marcos came to be known as Trouble and Centurion and Princess Dusa as Crybaby. Together they are The Exiled.

The conflict continues in this graphic novel featuring Crybaby and her band of revolutionaries. Sister Syrana and her sycophants are appropriately despicable and Crybaby’s group exudes the righteous indignation of freedom fighters. Larocque’s allegory about the doctrine of the Divine Right of Kings and the corruption of the medieval church succumbs to the weight of its own ponderous dialogue and overwrought characters.
