Daredevil: Redemption

Inspired by the Robin Hood Hills Murders, in which three Satan–worshippers were convicted (falsely, according to some accounts) of killing three boys, Daredevil: Redemption is a six–issue series that finds Matt “The Man without Fear” Murdock lending his talents to the case. Murdock is unsure of whether The Troubled Trio is guilty of the unspeakably brutal crime, but he wants to make sure they get a fair trial and are not found guilty simply because of small–town prejudice regarding their unorthodox religious beliefs, questionable taste in music (heavy metal, of course), and Goth–style clothing.

The first issue, though a bit routine in terms of plot points (ethical lawyer goes out of way to represent underdog client), does tell a solid story, especially for new readers (possibly brought in by true–crime elements) unfamiliar with Murdock’s special lawyerly abilities.

There’s not much in the way of swashbuckling super–heroics, but the art will appeal to fans of the Daredevil monthly. Gaydos evokes series regular Alex Maleev, but with added realism.
