Dixie and Double Amp are too young women who have both had their arms torn off by wild animals, (in Double Amp’s case, both arms.) Dixie is an expert in bionics who has been able to replace their missing arms with super strong cybernetic limbs. In “The Bellknap Graverobber” their unusual condition is inconsequential trivia compared to their discovery of stolen corpses that are being reanimated as algae men by the insidious slime queen. The slime queen intends to transform the entire world into zombie-like algae men and remove the influence of men from the face of the world. Along the way, Dixie and Double Amp enlist the aid of a group of prostitutes, a thirteen-year-old social misfit, and Peeping Tom named Eel.

Artist Drue Langlois produced this amazingly disjointed and incoherent yarn and even obtained partial funding from the Manitoba Arts Council. The characters, dialogue and situations evoke the eccentricities of the underground comics of the late 1960s and early 1970s but with much less artistic discipline.
