This black and white title is an eclectic collection of horror and suspense stories that achieve various levels of success. Tom Mandrake, (Martian Manhunter, The Spectre), who also provided the cover, is the most familiar contributor. Most of the stories feature characters who appear rational but hide a simmering pool of anxiety beneath their work-a-day exterior. Also included is a fumetti story about an urban dweller who finds himself lost in the cornfield of a very vigilant and disturbed farmer.

This title Silent Scream is also the name of an anti-abortion film of great controversy. This book is not connected to that film.
