Forbidden is a 16-page story about a lost kingdom of humans who are banished to live underground. The son of the king rebels and escapes to the surface. The pay-off, judging from the ads for #2, is that the surface is a modern world. I’d like to know more about the history of the kingdom and how these people ended up underground. According to the story, they were “cursed,” but that’s all readers know.

That’s an interesting concept, and the pacing is spot-on. The dialogue will make readers groan in a few places, and, while the art was competent, the gray tones were a tad overdone. This preview would’ve been sweet with an ending having the characters show up in the modern day, and the cover price is steep for a #0.

Creator Samuel Vera has good ideas and an extensive website. He should consider presenting his ideas in a less-traditional comic-book format. These zero issues are meaningless. Forbidden sounds as if it would make a good trade.
