Superman: In the Name of Gog

Superman can have some rough days on the job. Continued from the trade paperback Superman: The Wrath of Gog, this follow-up trade features Superman’s battle with the time-traveling villain Gog as the overall plot. There are subplots and stops along the way however, with guest appearances from the ghostly Silver Banshee, the evil Kryptonian Preus, and the monster who actually killed Superman, Doomsday (luckily, he got better).

In the final battle, Superman faces an army of Gogs, who may finally do what Doomsday failed to: erase Superman from existence. But will Gog enact his final revenge, or grasp last-minute redemption?

In the Name of Gog reprints Action Comics #820-825. Light on characterization and long on folks punching each other in the face, this storyline adds up to nothing more than mundane super-hero warfare. Not the Last Son of Krypton’s finest moment.
