G.L.A.: Misassembled
(Marvel, 2005)
™ and © Marvel Characters, Inc.
Here is assembled the Great Lakes Avengers mini-series, plus some. First appearing in West Coast Avengers #46 (reprinted within these pages for historians), Don Slott has taken a team of misfits and, with the help of Paul Pelletier, put together a look at a team of heroes that have never received their due praise. That changes in this story as Mister Immortal learns more of his continuing role in life and just why everyone he ever cared about has to die, while Doorman, The Living Portal, expands his role in the world, and Flatman, the 2-D Defender, comes out with something big. Big Bertha, the Ample Amazon, shows the day by day trials of a top fashion model who can stroll down the runways with the best of them, and enter Dinah Soar, the Winged Wonder of Wisconsin, girlfriend of Mister Immortal, who, well, isn’t as immortal as her boyfriend. And what of Squirrel Girl, furry friend of long-tailed rodents everywhere, who once defeated Doctor Doom himself (also reprinted from Marvel Super-Heroes #8)? With names like these gathered together in one city, why would you even look at other comics?
