Elfquest: The Discovery

After a certain Canadian aardvark hung up his sword, Elfquest became the longest-running independent comic still publishing new stories, albeit now under the DC logo. The romance between the Wolf-Rider chief, Cutter, and his lifemate Leetah, was the core of the story from the beginning and remains so today, albeit with the focus now shifting to encompass their children and other supporting characters.

“The Discovery” is a four-part mini-series that quickly updates the reader, as previous storylines start to interweave. Cutter’s son Suntop, now called Sunstream, hibernates in a healing cocoon inside the Crystal Palace of the High Ones. His soul has gone on many journeys and may have discovered the recognition of his one true love among the Waverider elves living beneath the sea. And that’s not the only romance to be found.

With so many characters and so much going on, it might be a little confusing to a first-time reader. But with patience and attention to detail, such potential audience members should climb quickly on board.

And no one draws cuter elves than Wendy Pini!
