Only an artist as skilled as Williams, paired with a writer who can think in four dimensions, such as Morrison, could produce the sort of kinetic and visually challenging art seen in this issue. The page on which Gloriana arrives to “eat the whole world” is a shockingly powerful composition, in which conventions of time and space seem to fold in on each other to create a unified, everlasting now. From this point on, the reader becomes inextricably implicated in the story unfolding.

By the end of this issue, the Seven Soldiers have saved the world from the Sheeda queen. But, with one soldier ascending to unholy power, another enslaved, yet a third retired, and (of course) the death of one soldier at the hands of an unchallenged evil, what chances are there against the next cosmic threat?
