New Mangaverse

    (Marvel, 2006)
™ and © Marvel Characters, Inc.

While their distinguished competition likes to shut down alternate universes, Marvel plugs away with a number of variations on its classic super-heroes. One of these alternate universes is the Mangaverse, where Marvel characters are reinterpreted in the style of Japanese comics. In addition to redesigning Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and other mainstays of the Marvel universe in the big-eyed, cartoony style of traditional manga, the creators of the Mangaverse rework the origins to fit in with motifs often found in Japanese stories. This 2005 miniseries follows up on the events of previous Mangaverse books and finds a ninja Spider-Man and Mary Jane on the run from a world where super-heroes are in danger.
