OK, this is my first exposure to Penny Arcade, and I like it. I mean: a print collection of an online strip about videogame nerds who hang on every PR announcement and platform change — with humor!
The adventures of Gabriel and Tycho (along with the daily comments) make this a volume the reader must enjoy page by page. With a child who loves his PS2 and Gameboy, many of the comics relate directly to the computer world, too. Like the big comic from page 71 titled “Windows Wrestling Federation.” Who hasn’t had a glitch in XP or ME that has wiped out files or crashed with no apparent reason? I can even relate to the Magic 8 Ball, though I don’t think my brothers had “I slept with your wife” as an answer.
As a “teaser” warning: The cover has nothing to do with the content. If you are a fan of the strip, you probably know that already. If you don’t, you will like the art section and a short selection of unpublished stories by the demented duo.
Prepare for a twisted ride.
