The Alex Toth Reader
(Pure Imagination, 2005)
™ and © Pure Imagination
The recently passed Alex Toth was the definitive “artist’s artist:” one greatly admired and imitated by his peers and successors, if not always lauded among fans, despite his major contributions to both comics and cartoons. To put it another way: everyone knows and loves his work and those influenced by his work, they just don’t always KNOW they know it. So it’s a good thing Pure Imagination is collecting these old Toth tales. The art’s so expressive, solid, and economic, you’ll happily trot through adaptations of cheesy 60s TV shows just to enjoy the aesthetics.
