Ancient legends and modern gang wars collide in this tale of a young man’s search for his identity. During the forties, Hitler searched for the origins of a superior race, discovering that the original Aryans came from the Far East. The legend of the Bulletproof Monk comes from this search for a so-called supergene.

A medallion bearing the name of this legendary figure is Kar’s only clue in his quest for his past, but its secrets are unknown even to him. He seems an unlikely hero at first, all too quickly joining the same thugs who had previously tried to rob him. His involvement with the girl called Daughter puts him in the middle of San Francisco’s unstable gang politics, but perhaps also one step closer to the truth he seeks. There are some who would prefer that the secrets of the past remain hidden. Kar’s journey becomes more desperate when a Chinese assassin arrives in America and picks up his trail.
