Transformers, Beast Wars: The Gathering

Regarded by many Transformers fans as the toy line that saved the franchise, Beast Wars finally makes its debut in comic books ten years after the first figures and episodes of the cartoon appeared. Written by Simon Furman, one of the main architects of Transformers continuity for both Marvel and Dreamwave, this book explores a previously undocumented battle that’s been designed to fit seamlessly within the structured storyline of the cartoon. Artist Don Figueroa, one of the main designers for the Dreamwave line, handles the art chores and makes more work for himself by creating designs for numerous Predacons and Maximals before they acquire their beast modes. The two creators also toss in characters from the Japanese Beast Wars toys as a nod to the hardcore Transformers fans.
