Untold Tales of the New Universe

    (Marvel, 2006)
™ and ©2006 Marvel Characters, Inc.

In 2006, both to celebrate the line’s twentieth anniversary and to set the stage for Warren Ellis’ newuniversal title, Marvel once again revisited the New Universe.

The idea behind the New Universe was to create a line of comic books set in a more realistic setting. The thinking was that the stories could take place in the world right outside your window. Separate from the Marvel Universe, it featured characters that could be your friends, neighbors, or even you. The flagship title of the line was The Star Brand, which featured a mechanic named Ken Connell who was granted godlike powers through a tattoo-like branding called the Star Brand.

Untold Tales of the New Universe details a meeting between Ken Connell and a woman named Arden who is traveling through the various alternate universes cataloging all the possessors of the Star Brand. It serves as a good introduction to the concept and the characters from the original series.
