Fantastic Four: First Family (2nd Series)

Joe Casey has become a master at taking a “VH1 Behind the Music” approach to exploring the early days of Marvel’s super-hero teams, as evidenced in his X-Men: Children of the Atom and Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes limited series. Without having to completely reinvent the details à la Marvel’s Ultimate line, Casey is able to fill in the storytelling gaps in the original Silver Age tales to satisfy modern age sensibilities without invalidating the work of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

In this limited series, Casey teams with Chris Weston to look at how Marvel’s first super-hero team initially responded to their powers. Weston provides detailed, realistic pencils that heighten the bizarre nature of the Marvel Universe.
