Fearless and quirky—that seems to be what Devil’s Panties creator Jennie Breeden is looking for with her Web comic strips, and for the most part, she succeeds. The art far from wows, and the jokes are sometimes obvious, but, in general, the strips are creative and wicked fun.Park bench chats between Jesus and Satan start things off, and it’s largely no-holds-barred from there. Such as the panel in the third strip showing Jesus puffing a joint and saying, “Dad makes this so they’d just chill, but noooo—it’s the man-made lung-clogger that they legalize.”

The action revolves around Jen and her two friends Beth and D.J., who find ways to support and annoy each other with the most sisterly of love. Jen’s ever-present and endearing inferiority complexes keep the thoughts provoking, as she deals with her own intimacy issues, height challenges, disdain for cats, and other facts of life.Collecting strips makes for easy reading, because the book can be put down and picked back up at any point. Those wanting continuity and lengthier attention spans may not find this the best cup of tea.
