Banished by his people—a cruelly fierce race of Dark Elves devoted to their evil goddess, the Spider Queen—Drizzt Do’urden left the subterranean Underdark to seek a better life on the surface. But things don’t quite go as planned under the sun, and the good-hearted Drizzt quickly finds himself hunted by the very people he naively hoped to befriend.

At a mere forty years old, Drizzt is little more than a child by the standards of his long-lived race. While the first two books in R.A. Salvatore’s Dark Elf trilogy detailed his conflict with his family and his exile in the wilds of Underdark, the events of Sojourn (one of six novels featuring Drizzt) are pivotal in the warrior’s journey from adolescence to adulthood. This adaptation, however, despite being a sequel with complex pre-existing continuity, stands well on it’s own as an enjoyable adventure, even for unfamiliar readers.
