Gun Fu: Showgirls Are Forever
(Image, 2006)
™ and © 2003 Howard M. Shum
Cheng Bo Sen, the hip-hop-talking, British secret agent from Hong Kong returns in this one-shot that was c0-written by Cerebus creator, Dave Sim, based on a pin-up he supplied for Gun Fu: The Lost City. In this adventure set in 1941, four French Nazi-collaborating showgirls are assigned to bomb a target in the United States. The Queen sends Cheng Bo Sen to the “Secret Vichy Government Showgirl Installation and Charm School” in Canada to stop them but he is captured when he is mesmerized by their dancing. Well, they are showgirls after all. This secret agent/James Bond spoof is definitely over-the-top due in no small part to Bo Sen’s anachronistic dialogue which no one seems to find odd.
