IDW, the caretakers of the Transformers legacy in comic book form in 2006, shower some love on old-time Transformers fans with this reprint series that takes a look back at classic tales of the Autobots and Decepticons. In choosing the stories to be reprinted for this series, the editors at IDW decided against simply reprinting the old 80s Marvel series in chronological order from the first issue. Instead, they’ve chosen stories that fans might remember nostalgically as classics or could recognize in hindsight as fascinatingly offbeat or campy. Among the selections are Ratchet’s confrontation with Megatron, the return of Megatron in the hands of a small-time hood, a solo adventure featuring Bumblebee, and a battle set at a rock concert. Current artist like Ashley Wood and Nick Roche provide covers that often reinterpret the story’s original cover artwork.
