Jenna and Ninja High School
(Narwain, 2006)
™ and © Narwain Publishing
Narwain and Antarctic Press present a cross over of two of their favorite series. The Vatican has sent it’s Project: Checkmate team to capture what it believes to be the third incarnation of the anti-Christ, Jenna. They catch up with her in a little town called Quagmire, where the streets of town and the halls of Ninja High School are soon running rampant with death and destruction. Even when you’re as good a Jenna, it’s nice to have new friends to back you up in a brawl.
— Ron Black
From the Comics Buyer’s Guide:
Ninja High School has a long pedigree. It once had two continuities running concurrently, the original and Vol. 2. It launched the Warrior Nun family of books. It’s been remade as funny animals. It’s crossed over with Speed Racer—twice. Ninja High School is an old standard.
Jenna is… who is Jenna, anyway?
Whoever she is, she’s apparently not as established as her co-stars. This leads to a skewed team-up. (To clarify, Superman/Spider-Man is a fairly well-balanced crossover. Witchblade/Weasel-Guy is kind of unbalanced.) Jenna does get top billing, presumably because this is a Narwain comic, rather than one from Antarctic.
Who is she? There are no introductory blurbs. The text page is about a totally different comic. But the “any resemblance” legal notice gets a full page. Talk about missed opportunities. It’s not a bad Ninja High School story. NHS creator Ben Dunn has at least one hand in it, and it features a cadre of warrior nuns and magic priests. But readers familiar with Jenna will no doubt have a greater level of appreciation for the story.
