With middle school graduation approaching, Ayumu can’t bear the thought of being separated from her best friend for the first time. She dedicates herself anew to schoolwork, hoping to follow Shinozuka to the most exclusive high school in the city. But things go horribly wrong when Ayumu makes the cut and Shinozuka doesn’t. Shinozuka lashes out, blaming the time she spent tutoring Ayumu for her failure. In a single moment, everything Ayumu had been hoping for disappears, and she seeks solace in the blade of a knife. When she cuts herself, the pain, uncertainty and loneliness flow away with each drop of blood. Will a new friend be the strength she needs or send her spiraling further into depression?
