Star Wars: Tag & Bink II

Who says you can’t do comedy based on Star Wars? (You don’t have to be a Star Wars geek to understand and appreciate it, but it doesn’t hurt.) In the vein of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, George Lucas’ epic saga is told from the point of view of Tag and Bink. Truly, it’s theater of the absurd.

So they were the Emperor’s royal guards during the final battle between Luke and Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi, eh? Just as they were in Jabba’s palace, disguised as Boba Fett and a Skiff guard, huh? I can suspend disbelief and have a good laugh. Some of the lines are delivered dead-on. I won’t spoil them for you here.

The story features cameos from the Cylons of Battlestar Galactica (the original series) fame, Big Boy (the restaurant mascot), and Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo (dancing with Ewoks, no less). It also pokes fun at various controversies and explains away some continuity bugs. One example is the way it adapts the ending of Jedi, when Luke sees the spirits of Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin. However, both the old version of Anakin and the Hayden Christiansen version of Anakin (which appears on the DVD version) appear, staring at one another in confusion. Funny stuff.

If you want a good laugh, pick this up. You won’t regret it.
