In this, the third meeting of Batman and Judge Dredd, the two lawmen are forced to ally again as they battle one of the Caped Crusader’s arch enemies, The Riddler.

After being tricked into a trap by the Riddler, Batman finds himself locked in a cage in the same room as other warriors from many different dimensions. Emperor Xero, their captor is holding a sort of cosmic big game hunt. One of their number will be chosen as the quarry, to be hunted by the others. The first to kill the quarry will survive—all others will be killed. Whoever is unlucky enough to be chosen as quarry has to defeat all his pursuers to live.

A die is thrown and the quarry chosen is Batman. Dredd refuses to play along, however, and as a result becomes one of the hunted. It’s clear that there’s more to this hunt than meets the eye, but will Batman and Judge Dredd live long enough to figure out the Ultimate Riddle?
