Reads right to left; b&w.

Old England isn’t as jolly as it could be, as demonic “akuma” are on the verge of overtaking humanity and British bobbies won’t know what hit them. This is all thanks to the nefarious plans of the Millennium Earl, a phantom who has tempted despondent people for a millennium uses his toxic minions to inhabit their bodies and feed on their souls. Luckily, teen-age exorcist Allen Walker is here to save the day.

Empowered by the godly substance of “innocence,” Allen transforms his cross-tattooed left hand into an akuma-killer. Along the way, he rescues the policewoman Moa from her possessed brother in-law Marc, who long ago crossed to the other side when his wife died tragically. Allen seeks allies from The Black Order, whose members recognize a potential savior in their midst. But will the Earl nip their resistance in the bud?

Mixing Full Metal Alchemist with Hellsing yields such gray matter. Katsura Hoshino’s art is finely detailed. But his script, laden with Judeo-Christian overtones, doesn’t keep pace with the action yet.
