It’s official. Marvel now has four different universes—all of them consecutively running different continuities: the Classic, the Ultimate, the M2, and (now) the Marvel Adventures universes. Starting as a modern retelling of classic stories, Marvel Adventures has since gone its own way. This lineup of Avengers is half-classic, half-Ultimate, with a Giant-Girl and Storm wearing a Ms. Marvel costume! While aimed at all ages, this is no kiddies’ book. It is fun for all ages! Jeff Parker’s story is lively and Manuel Garcia’s art dynamic.

The Avengers are called together… to be fired. They’re no longer needed, since the government is about to activate its new army of Ultron 700s. I don’t even need to explain what happens next. To quote Spider-Man, “That’s got to be an everything-went-wrong speed record!” Like the Marines, The Avengers go into action and fight the Ultrons on the land, in the air, and on the sea. This self-contained story leaves only one question unresolved: How will The Hulk deal with puny Banner cashing all his paychecks?
