Disney Presents Carl Barks’ Greatest DuckTales Stories
(Gemstone, 2006)
™ and © 2006 Disney
The late Carl Barks was known as the good duck artist by comic book fans. His creations of Uncle Scrooge, Grandma Duck, Magica De Spell, Gyro Gearloose, and The Beagle Boys among others were coupled with existing characters Donald Duck and Huey, Dewey and Louie. In 1987, when Disney decided to create another weekday animated cartoon show, it turns to Barks’ long-running comic book stories for inspiration. New characters such as Webigail and Launchpad McQuack were added to the TV cast and DuckTales was born. This compilation features comic book stories that were inspired by or directly used for the animated show.
