Modesty Blaise is a spy with the physical and mental attributes that empower her to tackle the most dangerous foes. The creation of writer Peter O’Donnell, Modesty Blaise appeared in British newspapers from 1963 to 2001, written by O’Donnell and originally drawn by Jim Holdaway. After his death, Ernri Badia Romero drew most of the run. The Gallows Bird features “The Bluebird Affair,” “The Gallows Bird,” “The Wicked Gnomes,” and “The Iron God,” four excellent storylines that will hook new readers on Blaise.

Romero is a master of photo-realistic art; readers may almost catch themselves looking too close!

Quentin Tarantino has been inspired by this beautiful super-spy and former crime boss, and you will be, too. The supporting cast of Willie Garvin, Sir Gerald Tarrant, and a delightful company of strangers, villains, and thieves enrich the world of Modesty Blaise.

Here’s hoping they find cleaner art throughout for the next book!
