Lassie
(Dell, 1950-1969)

Smart, resourceful, loyal, brave and furry: that’s Lassie, America’s favorite pooch and a mainstay on television and in movies and comics from the late 1940s to the early 70s. The premise of Lassie shows varied slightly through the years and the original collie eventually gave way to a succession of direct descendents, but the essential boy-and-dog adventure elements remained constant as Lassie and his nominal owner foiled crimes, searched for treasure, encountered ghosts, and helped each other.
Dell began the comic book adaptation in 1950. Gold Key, which split off from Dell in the early 60s, soldiered on with photo-cover issues.
