Emissary (Image)

On an ordinary day, seen through the eyes of police officers and newspapers reporters, the world outside our window is shattered by the appearance of The Emissary, a man with incredible powers who announces himself and his mission to elevate humanity while floating in mid-air over Times Square.
Here’s yet another super serious, would-be ultra-realistic attempt at dealing with a classic super-hero comic-book premise by giving it a post-modern spin. Which it comes to innovations, this one offers a strange visitor who’s (a) black, (b) has zero interest in fighting crime, and (c) favors a Nascar racing suit to the standard cape and underwear outside of tights look.
It works for the most part, except the part when General Lang unilaterally orders a pilot to essentially commit suicide by ramming his jet into The Emissary (potentially endangering hundreds of people) because he’s scared. If this one actually is “realistic” the next issue should open with him being led away in chains; I mean, even General Thunderbolt Ross would have known better.
