Animal Antics (Movietown’s…)
(DC, 1946-1954)
™ and ©1954 National Comics Publications, Inc.
Animal Antics was a funny animal title from action-oriented publisher DC during the mid-1940s to mid-1950s lull in interest in their usual line of super-hero titles. The goofy Raccoon Kids anchored the Animal Antics lineup, with two stories per issue. The remainder of the pages were filled with the antics of the Tortoise and the Hare, and the furry chipmunk team of Nip and Chip.
Cute, harmless, and slavish in their imitation of the major league funny animal stars like Porky Pig, Woody Woodpecker, and Bugs Bunny, the stories in Animal Antics occasionally rose to a higher level thanks to the inspired slapstick humor of Sheldon Meyer.
