X-Men Movie Prequel: Rogue

    (Marvel, 2000)
™ and ©2000 Marvel Characters, Inc.

Although part of the massive publicity campaign behind last years X-Men movie, this Rogue one-shot story is an able X-Men story in its own right. Written by fantasy and comic veterans Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (Force Works, Star Trek, Aquaman, Legion of Super-Heroes) and drawn by Alan Evans and Rob Nikolakakis (part of the Café DNA network), it provides a fast-paced backstory to the film character.

Cursed with the mutant ability to steal memories and abilities by touch, Rogue was just an ordinary teenager until her abilities ran amok. Not only is she quickly ostracized from her Mississippi high school, pretty soon she’s running for her life! Captured by a government-connected biotech firm, Rogue is imprisoned as part of a genetic study on mutation. Only her once-hated abilities can enable her to break her fellow mutants out of jail (and attract the attention of Magneto and Professor X).
