The Transformers: Stormbringer

    (IDW, 2006)
™ and ©2006 Hasbro

With the Transformers comic license shifting to IDW, acclaimed writer Simon Furman was able to construct his interpretation of the Transformers mythology from the ground up. In this miniseries, Furman teams up with fan-favorite artist Don Figueroa to reveal the condition of the Transformers’ home planet of Cybertron and why the Autobots and Decepticons have been scattered across the galaxy.

Unlike the old 1980s Marvel series and the cartoon, IDW’s Transformers books don’t have the burden of crafting storylines just to introduce new toys. Instead, with 20 years of hindsight, Furman and Figueroa can take a more organic approach to integrating new characters and the more outlandish concepts into the overall story. Stormbringer sees the reintroduction of the Pretenders and the planet Nebulos on a setting far away from familiar Earth.
