This volume of Grendel Tales is brought to you by Steve Seagle and Paul Grist. It begins with a Grendel being discovered aboard a pirate ship in the area of Cape Horn and then set adrift on a rowboat. Later, the Grendel (a suicidal lad named Jonah) washes up near an Antarctic ice station. The ice station watches over a toxic waste dumping ground which virtually covers the continent. Two months ago, the waste shipments stopped coming…and so did the supplies.

The crew was reluctant to take in the Grendel since one more mouth to feed meant that much less chance of survival for the rest of them. Only minutes after the Grendel arrived at the station, however, a bigger problem materialized: a virus infected one of the crew causing his body to virtually explode from the inside. Is Jonah’s presence the crew’s doom—or their best chance for survival?
