The Little Man

A “virtually complete” Chester Brown collection of short strips (barring collaborations), The Little Man mixes humor, autobiography, Gnostic gospel adaptations, phallic capers and a very true and funny speculation called “The Weird Canadian Artist.” It’s a nice, meticulous style Brown draws in, grubby but not sloppy, precise, but not uniform. It’s easy to see why he’s a big name in independent comics, as he can serve a thoughtful audience with frequently base material and still wring meaning from it.
