Louis and Clair are 20-somethings who live on the 4th floor. Clair wants a dog but can barely take care of herself. Jacky and Fabienne are a middle aged couple on the 3rd floor. They have a Great Dane almost as big as their apartment. And pregnant single mom Beatrice and her young son Remi occupy the 2nd floor. She’s not sure how they will make ends meet when Remi’s sister is born. Together, these neighbors walk in and out of each other’s lives, learning from and helping one another. Truth to be told, they’re each a little jealous of the others’ life.

Slice-of-life comics can be hard to pull off; it’s difficult to make an entire page of tooth-brushing interesting. But Vanyda succeeds commendably. With witty dialog and likable characters, he makes us care what happens to these regular folks that could easily live next door to you. They don’t, however—they live in the building opposite.
