CLF: Cybernetic Liberation Front

    (Anubis, 1992)
™ and ©1992 James Widmark

This black-and-white title from Anubis Press and writer-artist James Widmark is based on an interesting premise: as a symbol of hope, mankind entrusted its legacy to specialists in cybernetics and artificial intelligence. Their mission was “to forge men of souls with bodies of steel”—beings who would carry on for humanity without the typical human weaknesses. Eventually, the wisdom of this decision came into question, and the cyborgs were destroyed or driven into hiding. Now, humanity and artificial humanity await the coming of a savior: a half-man/half-machine who exemplifies the best qualities of both “races.” Intriguing stuff, but the artwork is a bit on the murky side.
